Tjaja, now almost three weeks have passed already and I am still in Bogota. Today we had the final test of our English course ... well, I for one am curious what happens. Among the comments to my last post, I just want to say that it would be nice if you could leave a name so I know who wrote what. Only so much, yes, the hair is still there and I see currently no reason to change that.
have one day later then we rented a bus and drove to an old Indian temple. The place is called Guatavita, is almost at 3,000 meters altitude and is a real sanctuary lagoon, nearly circular, in which the local Indians used to throw gold as an offering to the gods. Then, when the Spaniards conquered the country, they blew a big dent in the wall of the lagoon, through which the water should flow out
to get to the gold. The atmosphere in this place is truly impressive. Climb up a small path from 2800 meters to 3200 meters, crossing the air, so to speak border. This is noticeable especially on the vegetation. Crossing is first a jungle-like vegetation of the area so much to be above 3000 meters. A very nice experience, and I can recommend, do not visit this place in a large group to the haunting atmosphere of exercise and honor this wonderful place on his way to. (Again, more images will follow) So much
first to the recent cultural program.
We were now exploring even twice in the evening the party life of Bogota. We were the first time in a small club in the Candelaria, the historic center of the city and the second time in a salsa nightclub. This much anticipated ... I was dancing, but I am still far away from salsa dancing to. The Colombians and Colombian we could take to the salsa-disco dance but all pretty good and were always very willing to teach one a thing or two. Home it's always a taxi at night since no bus service ... more
well, and the second time I then immediately found the house of my host family.
before yesterday I finally got to visit my project. Well, if I'm honest, I've only been talking with the director and her husband, but I have a pretty good feeling about the matter. The focus of my work will be working with sexually exploited young people. Sexually exploited in this sense does not mean domestic Abuse but child prostitution and sex tourism. I think most people, and yet I probably also could not imagine the scale takes place even close to what child prostitution. The statements are the boss of it working without end, and I immediately had the feeling to come to a place where I'm needed (please do not understand what you are now wrong, eh:)). Next Monday through Wednesday I will get at least here in the project office in Bogota a short introduction to the work and the different areas and is next Thursday, then to Cartagena, where I probably should first teach music and drama. 'm Really curious how all of this is Sun The rest
This week, we now have a full program. Tomorrow is the last English-hour, the course really showed me once again brought a lot I think, and then we have a picnic including toys built from garbage (recycling) and Friday we have a small conference on the political history of Colombia which is certainly very interesting . In the evening it's off first in the Universidad Nacional and then into a club called Casa Babylon, as is how it should be the name be, Raggea. But here I grab a little in advance, after all, it is interesting to hear what happened. Therefore it the next time.
Perhaps a few words about the Universidad Nacional. This is one of the few Colombia's public universities. That means that the study is free, it is not easy at a place approach comes as the rush for places is enormous. The majority of universities in Colombia are private and that can mean quite possible that you have to lie down for the semester, several thousand euros (some in double digits). The specialty at the Universidad Nacional, however, that the police may on the campus. As expected, this place is so full of young people and alternative political activism, because no one here can be used (and even then please do not misunderstand, this is not explicitly to any form of radicalism, but the campus is a place for many to which one can think and act freely, in what Columbia is otherwise not always so harmless).
Finally again a couple of general impressions and feelings on my part. Bogota is a juggernaut .... loud, smoggy, bad weather. I have therefore decided to be really happy if I get to Cartagena. Although most people are very friendly and helpful, but I rarely see people with a smiling face. Now some might perhaps try to compare with Germany in the fall and would probably even close to the picture right. I'm looking forward in any case always, but sometimes when I see someone laughing in the street. Colombia is also unexpectedly expensive. Now I can not individual rates call, but who thinks, well here with little money to make ends meet is mistaken. The prices are not that far away from those in Leipzig. I say aware of Leipzig here, because in comparison to other German cities in Leipzig but can live very cheap. The difference for me - I've only maybe a quarter of the money available in Leipzig. My daily budget is 3.30 € and from that I can buy me two bus rides and what to eat cheap. This is partly because the exchange rate of Euro to Colombian Peso for a while is very bad. One euro was worth half a year ago still 3000 pesos, now it's only 2400 pesos and I can say that makes is quite noticeable.
For this reason, I just think about, whether I should allow advertising on this blog. If this is so in the near future should be, I ask you to forgive me so hard and still continue to read. But this, I will when the time comes again briefly write about.
addition, I am also not averse to small donations (all voluntary and without coercion). Who would like a bit of support so write me a little message and then I sign.
So .... written a lot:) If you have questions or would like to know anything specific I should of course also write a lot and then I'll try to respond.
Best wishes and good luck to you all!
